Pastel Artists of New Zealand

Group Information

Bay of Plenty

PANZ BOP members meet on the 3rd Monday of the month (Feb-Nov) 1pm-4pm, at the Tauranga Society of Artists Rooms, 171a Elizabeth St, Tauranga. This is an Open Studio format so besides PANZ members this session is open to all artists, mediums and genre.

There is a full day session at the TSA, 9am-4pm, on the first Monday of each month as well as every Wednesday afternoon. Wednesdays usually start with a BYO lunch for an hour from 12md-1pm. BOP prides itself as having an extraordinary wide range of talent so that while not every session aims to  be a workshop, never-the-less the artists spend a fair amount of time discussing works in progress and freely dispensing advice.

TSA has a website and pastel artists regularly have examples of their current work on display.

The Nelson Area of PANZ includes the areas covered by the White Pages of the Nelson and Bays telephone book. We meet on Tuesday mornings, 9am-Noon Feb-Nov, at the Mapua Community Hall, Aranui Road, Mapua. New members always welcome.

We are a very busy but happy group of like minded people, who all enjoy using pastel as a painting medium. Everyone works differently, which makes each Tuesday a highlight of the week.

We all help and learn off each other, but we also have in-house challenges and visiting presenters/demonstrators as well as workshops with overseas tutors. We run our own members exhibition at Mapua each February 'Top of the South' and invite the Marlborough Area to join us.

Currently we are preparing to host the PANZ 'Purely Pastel' 2016 National Art Awards and Convention at Mapua which we are really looking forward to.
