Sandra Wilson
In a past life I was a nurse, I am married to an architect and have two daughters. I have been on the committee of various organisations, groups and local body politics, but painting has now become the main direction of my life.
Pastel was the first medium I used when starting art classes about 14 years ago, becoming immediately addicted to their lusciousness. I am a charter and committee member of PANZ (Pastel Artists of New Zealand), and also tutor a pastel class at Mary Archibald’s art school in Upper Hutt.
I enjoy painting still-life and people, particularly portraits, and have had paintings accepted into four Biennial New Zealand Portrait Gallery Competitions. I have achieved two merit awards for pastel portraits.
