Pastel Portfolios: an art group by mail

A postal portfolio consists of photographic images of works from a small group of pastellists which circulates regularly around its members for individual comments and exchanging of ideas. It costs little, is continually updated and is a great way to keep in contact with others who share a common interest. The portfolio may be reviewed occasionally by an experienced art tutor.
 
How can you join?
Any financial member of PANZ can belong to a portfolio. To be part of one simply send to Jean Sircombe the information listed below and she will put you into the first available space.

How many people are there in a portfolio group?

The optimum number is eight.  It takes approximately  three months to complete a circuit of the group.
 
How does it work?
The personal profiles, letters and images of paintings from each member, together with comment sheets, are put in clear file sheets and combined in a ring folder.  The folder travels from member to member in a canvas satchel.  Each member holds the portfolio for two weeks, adding a new image, letter and comments before sending the folder onto the next member on their mailing list.
 
What does it cost?
A small initial set up fee which covers the cost of the satchel, clear sheets etc. for each portfolio. This is a one-off cost. The postage  on your mailing list is your responsibility.
 
What do you need to do?
1.     Send Jean a small head & shoulders photograph of yourself 
        (people need to be able to put a face to a name).

2.     A brief profile, ( again it helps if you have some background of the others).

3.     A photograph or other good reproduction of your chosen painting. 

4.     Optional - A few words about your painting eg;  why you chose the subject, techniques used etc.

5.     A general letter of greeting to the others in your portfolio. 
        (Each of these items need to be on a separate page as they go in different places within the file).

6.    Include your name, address, phone number, fax, email, website.

9.     On receipt of the above Jean will include you in a pastel portfolio group as soon as it is possible.
